Blood magic invoked through a alchemic circle to tap the life energies of organisms around him. This does not kill the organisms, merely makes them weak. He must be immobile and focused when gathering energy for attacks and destroying the circle will destroy the link. He also carries two blades: a short sword at his waist and a long sword wrapped up on his back. He does not take the long sword out unless he means to kill.

Scion is an elvish familiar tied to Azael through his blood. A dark peregrine falcon, Azael uses him often to spy on his targets; he watches through the eyes of his pet through their blood connnection.

[PERSONALITY]

• Worldly, realistic about people and expectations from them
• Impatient, cynical, and pessimistic.
• Can appear disingenuous.
• Indifferent to most things: health, death, strangers...
• Sarcastic about things he's not indifferent about.

[LIKES]

• Waking up before dawn
• The adrenaline rush that comes with the dangers of the job.
• Water, a lot. Streams, rivers, etc. they make him feel more alive.
• Fresh bread, good drinks. (Actually he is picky about what "good" food is.)
• Adding a dramatic flare to some of his spells.
• Offending/Interrupting sensitive people with his dry or cutting remarks.

• Waiting on others, stake outs.
• Sweets, most of the time. On occasion, he'll have a bite of pastry.
• Repeating himself.
• Bigotry, idealism, and ignorance.
• Empty-headed, clumsy people.

[HISTORY]

• Azael used to be a resident of Xana. He lived with an intimate knowledge of the depths of human depravity (perhaps that is where his cynicism comes from?) As time went on and the stability of the Xana state only decreased, he grew tired of the constant infighting amongst the nobles. He does not speak of his time there, but rumors say that he used to serve in one of the corrupt noble's armies, before deserting in the middle of one of the minor skirmishes. They say the angry lord ordered his army to chase him down (as deserters are often court-marshaled and killed) and he was able to escape their grasp. But people say a lot of things.
• As the story goes, Azael eventually relocated to Arcania and began earning his living as a magical objects trader, though he frequently traveled to the other countries. He currently runs a black-magic/dark magicks dealership under the name of his legitimate job. Thus, he has many contacts (in high areas and sometimes, obscure places) as part of his merchant network.
• Azael's skill in blood magicks was an inherited trait from his species and his family. He has left his family and generally does not speak of them (one wonders why).

[MISC]

• Is ambidextrous and has acute sense of smell and hearing.
• Can sense auras and magical objects nearby.
• Has a very high pain threshold from the many years of practice of his craft.
• His right eye was born like that, it's a mark of his "house," so he usually covers it up with an eye patch (one can only conclude that his relations with them are not the best).
